These rock tombs are the resting place of 100 Paphitic aristocrats who died in Paphos between 3B.C and 3 A.D. (www.paphos.com/attractions). Bodies were buried with costly goods like jewellery. Throughout the Hellenistic and Roman periods was used by persecuted Christians as a place of refuge.
